Emergency Evacuation Procedures

Stage 1

STANDBY ALARM – an interrupted tone

(for approx. 3 mins)

STAFF and STUDENTS to shut down their equipment, isolate services, secure work area and personal belongings, and STANDBY.

Stage 2

EVACUATION ALARM – a continuous tone

(will sound automatically, after STANDBY alarm, if not overridden due to a false alarm, etc).

STAFF and STUDENTS to quietly, and without panic vacate the building and go to designated assembly point as directed by wardens.

DO NOT RETURN TO THE BUILDING UNTIL THE “ALL CLEAR IS GIVEN BY A WARDEN.

Notes

1. If given, please follow the orders of your floor warden who has been trained to evacuate personnel and check for hazards and damage.

2. In the case of a bomb threat, toxic gas escape etc, the (Stage 2) EVACUATION ALARM may be manually activated without a STANDBY signal. In this situation collect your personal belongings and vacate the area immediately, assembling at the nominated ASSEMBLY point.

After Hours

The alarm system will operate automatically for fire, or will be manually set by security personnel for other emergencies.

There will be no floor wardens to assist. Vacate the building without delay.

Security Staff will note your presence and advise if you will be able to return to your workplace.
